Konstantin Alekseevich Vasiliev

3 September 1942 - 29 October 1976

A Soviet painter and graphic artist who graduated from the Kazan Art School. His legacy includes more than two hundred works: portraits, landscapes, abstract compositions and paintings inspired by epic, mythological and military history.

The artist became widely known after his early death. His works and archive are now preserved by museums in Kazan and Vasilyevo, while The Man with an Owl remains one of his most recognisable paintings.

Konstantin Vladimirovich Vasiliev

10 January 1955 - 17 August 2001

A Russian poet, literary critic, translator and ornithologist. He was born and spent most of his life in Borisoglebsky in the Yaroslavl region. His work appeared in print from the late 1970s, and in 1995 he joined the Union of Russian Writers.

He authored On the Circular Path of Loss, The Boundaries of the Word, The Veil, Earthly Sonnets and Winter Night. He wrote literary essays and translated Bulgarian, English and French poetry; his manuscripts are held by the State Archive of the Yaroslavl Region.
